Moving Forward

  • OIG will advocate for legislation seeking to permanently establish the Office of the State Inspector General in order to continue the detection and prevention of fraud, waste, abuse and corruption in Georgia’s Executive Branch state agencies. Our proposed legislation would also require mandatory reporting by state agencies, and provide for jurisdiction over vendors that do business with state agencies, thereby further preventing occurrences of fraud, waste, abuse and corruption.

  • OIG will develop training for new state employees to increase awareness and offer guidance on reporting fraud, waste, abuse and corruption.

  • OIG will increase public awareness with the release of a public service announcement and other public outreach initiatives.

  • OIG will continue working towards improving coordination, communication, and information sharing with Executive Branch agencies, citizens, and the inspector general community to enhance OIG efforts.

  • OIG staff will attain and/or maintain Certified Inspector General status through attendance of qualified continuing professional education and continuing legal education courses.
